Handsome Ned
The Name is Ned (Anthology)
2 CD set - 33 Songs - 24-page deluxe colour booklet
The Handsome Ned set The Name is Ned, is a welcome introduction to a nearly forgotten Canadian singer/songwriter. When Handsome Ned died in 1987 at the age of 29, he left behind a wealth of recordings, from studio tracks to live recordings and radio appearances. The Name is Ned consists of a fairly even mix of originals and covers and an impressive array of guests. For listeners looking for a taste of the kind of raw and earnest performance Handsome Ned was capable of, the live recordings hold an edge over the more polished studio tracks. However, it's the original songs that display the depth of Handsome Ned's talent. Standout tracks include "Put the Blame on Me," "That'll Be the Love," "One Hundred Miles of Open Road," and "You'll Never See Midnight." The Name is Ned is a worthy reminder of a talented Canadian artist.

Rick Danko
Cryin' Heart Blues
The BAND's RICK DANKO delivers a solid set of studio originals from 1978 with his patent rock 'n soul voice. Previously unheard, these songs were written and recorded with Beach Boys' and Rolling Stones' singer BLONDIE CHAPLIN as the unreleased follow-up to 1977's RICK DANKO on Arista Records. Unlike that record, there's not a BAND-mate in sight for these sessions-just RICK, a hand-picked set of West Coast players, and on one song even a celebrated pair of surprise guest guitarists. However, we've included recently unearthed Tommy Spurlock productions that include keyboardist GARTH HUDSON. Also included as a Bonus are 4 live rockin' recordings from 1979 featuring RICK, BLONDIE, and guest PAUL BUTTERFIELD on harmonica, professionally recorded with a multi-track mobile studio.

Richard Manuel
Whispering Pines
The BAND's lead singer celebrates an intimate evening of his favorite originals, standards, and BAND classics at the Getaway Club near his home in Woodstock, New York, October 12, 1985. Joined at times throughout the evening by friends Jim Weider (guitar), Sredni Vollmer (harp), and former BAND-mate Rick Danko (guitar and vocals), Manual is captured here in a rare and relaxed solo club performance.
Also included are surprise Bonus studio cuts from the Garth Hudson archives not found on the 2003 Japan-only release of this CD.
Clips: The Shape I'm in, Across the Great Divide, Grow too Old, I Shall Be Released, Miss Otis Regrets, Instrumental #2, King Harvest, Piano Quicky #2, Mitzi's Blues

Garth Hudson
Music for Our Lady Queen of the Angels
A stratospheric musical experience of mood heightening & consciousness expanding textures, this was Garth Hudson's cosmic ode to the city of Los Angeles and it's 200th birthday celebrations.
Composed & recorded in 1980 as part of sculptor Tony Douquette's 10,000 sq. ft. exhibit entitled "A Celebrational Environment", Garth creates a colossal sound through his multi-synthesizer wizardry. These interplanetary compositions were further enhanced by the instrumental voice of Maud Hudson with background voices by Larry Kegel and Richard & Arlie Manuel along with a variety of Californian Wren calls with stream-side and pool-side frogs recorded by Hudson himself in Malibu.
Track #2 includes a Charlton Heston recitation of a Ray Bradbury poem.
Our Lady of the Angels faithfully follows the original cassette-only sequence and has been restored and remastered from the original 1980 recordings.
